The story of ATWOPAT began on 3rd June, 2025, when a visionary group of dedicated professionals within the Nigerian water industry came together to establish what was then known as the Nigeria Water Packaging Operators Network (NWPON).
At inception, NWPON served as a platform where operators in the packaged water industry could interact, exchange ideas, provide support to one another and address the common challenges affecting the sector. The founders understood that success within the industry could not be achieved through isolation but through unity, cooperation and shared knowledge.
Over the years, the network continued to grow beyond expectations. More operators joined, technicians became actively involved, experienced professionals contributed their expertise, and a stronger sense of community emerged among individuals whose daily work contributes significantly to the provision of safe drinking water across Nigeria.
As the organisation expanded, it became increasingly clear that its purpose had evolved beyond that of a simple network. The vision became broader, the mission became deeper, and the responsibility towards members and the industry became more defined.
Consequently, in February 2026, after careful deliberations and strategic planning, the organisation officially adopted a new identity: ATWOPAT – Association of Table Water Operators and Technicians.
This transformation reflected a clearer vision and a renewed commitment to serving not only table water operators but also the technicians whose skills, innovation and dedication keep the industry functioning effectively.
Today, ATWOPAT stands as a growing professional association determined to strengthen the Nigerian water industry by building relationships, encouraging professionalism, promoting technical competence and supporting the growth and development of every member.
